Why it is prescribed (Indications) : This medication is an enzyme, prescribed for Type 1 Gaucher disease.  It helps to decrease the harmful effects of the disease by breaking down glucocerebroside.
When it is not to be taken (Contraindications): None.

Category B : Animal reproduction studies have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women OR Animal studies have shown an adverse effect, but adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus in any trimester.

Dosage & When it is to be taken : IV - The recommended dose is 60 Units/kg administered every other week.
How it should be taken : It comes as powder for injection (diluted with fluid), to be administered by a healthcare provider into the vein.
Warnings and Precautions : 
Caution needed for pregnant and breastfeeding women.
Side Effects : 
Headache, chest pain or discomfort, weakness, fatigue, hives, redness, increased blood pressure, back pain, joint pain, and flushing.
Other Precautions : 
* Avoid excess dosage.
Storage Conditions : 
Store the medication as directed by your physician.
