Why is Sulfamethoxazole Prescribed? (Indications)

This medication is a sulfa agent, eliminates bacteria that cause infections, especially urinary tract infections. 

When should Sulfamethoxazole not to be taken? (Contraindications)

Contraindicated in patients with severe kidney or liver impairment, blood disorders, hypersensitivity to sulfonamides, porphyria, infants <2 months, during pregnancy (3rd trimester) and breastfeeding.
