International- Xarelto. This medication is a direct factor Xa inhibitor, prescribed for blood clots in patients who have had knee or hip replacement surgery. When it is not to be taken (Contraindications):
When it is to be taken : PO- The recommended dose is 20 mg once daily. How it should be taken : It comes as a tablet to take by mouth, with or without food. Special Instruction : * Caution should be exercised in patients with history of stomach ulcer, heredity problem, bleeding problems, high blood pressure, kidney or liver problems, who are taking other medications, any allergy, during pregnancy and breastfeeding. * Monitor kidney function, hemoglobin, hematocrit, and blood pressure regularly while taking this medication. Side Effects : Blood - Bone marrow depression. Gastrointestinal - Abdominal trauma. Liver - Jaundice, liver inflammation. Immune system disorders - Hypersensitivity, shock. Central Nervous system - Fainting, stroke, blood clots, and paralysis. Skin - Itching, blister, Stevens-Johnson syndrome. Musculoskeletal - Pain in extremity, muscle spasm. * Avoid excess dosage.
