Why it is prescribed (Indications) : 
This medication is a statin, prescribed for hyperlipidaemia.

When it is not to be taken (Contraindications): 


Hypersensitivity.

Category X : Studies in animals or humans have demonstrated fetal abnormalities and/or there is positive evidence of human fetal risk based on adverse reaction data from investigational or marketing experience, and the risks involved in use of the drug in pregnant women clearly outweigh potential benefits.


When it is to be taken : 
Adult: PO- The recommended dose is 10-40 mg/day at bedtime; adjust at 4-weekly intervals if needed. Max: 40 mg/day.
How it should be taken : 
It comes as a tablet to take by mouth, with or without food.
Special Instruction : 
* Caution should be exercised in patients with history of kidney failure, muscle pain, any allergy, during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
* Monitor kidney and liver function and creatine kinase level regularly while taking this medication.
* It may cause dizziness, do not drive a car or operate machinery while taking this medication.
Side Effects : 
GI symptoms, headache, insomnia, chest pain, rash, fatigue, dizziness, myalgia, hypersensitivity, anaphylaxis, angioedema, rhabdomyolysis, kidney failure, liver inflammation, haor loss, lopoecia, paraesthesia, impotence and breast enlargement in male.
Other Precautions : 
* Avoid excess dosage.
Storage Conditions : 
Store it at room temperature (25°C).
