International- Pneumovax. This medication is an immunization vaccine, prescribed for vaccination against pneumococcal disease. When it is not to be taken (Contraindications):
When it is to be taken : SC/IM- Administer a single 0.5 ml dose. How it should be taken : It comes as a solution for injection, to be administered by a healthcare provider. Special Instruction : * Caution should be exercised in patients with history of fever, heart disease, lung or breathing problems, infection, cancer, poor immunity, scheduled for an organ or bone marrow transplant, any allergy, during pregnancy and breastfeeding. * It should not be used in elderly or children less than 2 years old. Side Effects : General - Weakness, uneasiness, fever, chills, pain, decreased limb mobility, swelling in the extremity. Gastrointestinal - Nausea, vomiting. Blood - Lymph disease, decrease in white blood cells and platelets. Hypersensitivity - Anaphylactoid reactions. Musculoskeletal - Joint pain and inflammation, muscle pain. Central Nervous System - Headache, tingling, Guillain-Barre syndrome, febrile convulsions. Skin - Rash and hives. Investigations - Increased serum C-reactive protein. * Avoid excess dosage. Storage Conditions : Store unopened and opened vials at 2-8°C. |
