Why it is prescribed (Indications) : 
This medication is a bronchodilator, prescribed for asthma, bronchitis, and emphysema.

When it is not to be taken (Contraindications): 


Contraindicated in patients with peptic ulcer, gastritis and hypersensitivity to the drug.

Category C : Animal reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect on the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in humans, but potential benefits may warrant use of the drug in pregnant women despite potential risks.


When it is to be taken : 
Adult- 4.7 mg/kg orally every 8 hours.
Child 1-9 years: 6.2 mg/kg orally every 6 hours.
How it should be taken : 
It comes as a tablet to take by mouth, with food.
Special Instruction : 
* Caution should be exercised in patients with history of heart problems, high blood pressure, kidney, liver disease, seizures, stomach/intestinal ulcer, thyroid problems, cystic fibrosis, fluid in the lungs, any allergy, who are taking other medications, during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
* It may cause dizziness or drowsiness do not drive a car or operate machinery while taking this medication.
Side Effects : 
Hypersensitivity- Allergic reactions such as difficulty in breathing, throat irritation, swelling of lips, tongue, face or hives.
Miscellaneous - Seizures, irregular heartbeat, nausea or vomiting.
Other Precautions : 
* Avoid excess dosage.
Storage Conditions : 
Store it at room temperature, keep away from excess moisture.
