Why it is prescribed (Indications) : 
This medication is a penicillin antibiotic, prescribed for certain bacterial infection.

When it is not to be taken (Contraindications): 


Hypersensitivity.

Category B : Animal reproduction studies have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women OR Animal studies have shown an adverse effect, but adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus in any trimester.


When it is to be taken : 
IV- The recommended dose is 250mg to 1gm.
How it should be taken : 
It comes as a solution for injection, to be administered by a healthcare provider into the vein.
Special Instruction : 
* Caution should be exercised in patients with history of asthma, kidney impairment, bleeding or clotting problems, abnormal blood electrolyte levels, dehydration, low-salt diet, who are taking other medications, any allergy, elderly, children, during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
* Avoid long-term use of this medication; otherwise it may cause secondary infection.
* It may reduce platelet counts; avoid injury or bruising.
* Monitor kidney or liver function tests, complete blood cell counts, or blood electrolyte levels regularly while taking this medication.
Side Effects : 
Body as a Whole - Hives, itching, throat pain, asthma, low blood pressure, vascular collapse and death.
Gastrointestinal - Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, mouth ulcer, black or hairy tongue.
Other Precautions : 
* Avoid excess dosage.
Storage Conditions : 
Store at or below -20°C.
