Why it is prescribed (Indications) : This medication is an organic nitrate, prescribed for chest pain.

When it is not to be taken (Contraindications): 

Hypersensitivity.

Category C : Animal reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect on the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in humans, but potential benefits may warrant use of the drug in pregnant women despite potential risks.


When it is to be taken : 
PO- The recommended initial dose is 0.2 mg/hour to 0.4 mg/hour. It may be increased upto 0.4 mg to 0.8 mg/hour for 10 to 12 hours daily for at least 1 month.
How it should be taken : It comes as a tablet and capsule to take by mouth, place it under the tongue.
Special Instruction : 
* Caution should be exercised in patients with history of heart failure, overactive thyroid, head injury, recent heart attack, stroke, low blood pressure, any allergy, who are taking other medications, during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
* It may cause dizziness or blurred vision, do not drive a car or operate machinery and get up slowly from while taking this medication.
* It may lead to dehydration, if it is so consult with your doctor.
* Avoid alcohol consumption.
Side Effects : 
Headache, lightheadedness, fainting, increased chest pain and low blood pressure.
Other Precautions : 
* Avoid excess dosage.
Storage Conditions : 
Store it at room temperature.
