Why it is prescribed (Indications) : 
This medication is a light-sensitive hormone, prescribed for management of jet lag and other sleep disorders. It can also be used in the treatment of cluster headaches.  
When it is not to be taken (Contraindications): 
Contraindicated in patients with poor immunity, who are taking immunosuppressants, hypersensitivity, during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Dosage & When it is to be taken : 
PO- The recommended dose is 3-5 mg given at bedtime.
How it should be taken : 
It comes as a tablet to take by mouth, at bedtime.
Warnings and Precautions : 
* Caution should be exercised in patients with history of kidney problems, depression or history of seizures, any allergy, during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
* It may cause drowsiness, do not drive a car or operate machinery while taking this medication.
* Avoid alcohol consumption.
Side Effects : 
Drowsiness, change in sleep pattern and headache.
Other Precautions : 
* Avoid excess dosage.
Storage Conditions : 
Store it at room temperature (25°C).
