This medication is a stable salt of the amino acids ornithine and aspartic acid, prescribed for the treatment of high ammonia levels or severe liver impairment. It is also used for end-stage cirrhosis.
Contraindicated in patients with elevated level of liver enzymes.
PO- 1-2 tab 3 times daily or 5 ml once daily.
It comes as a tablet and liquid to take by mouth with or without food.
• Caution needed for pregnant and breastfeeding women.
Transient nausea and vomiting.
Avoid excess dosage.
