Trade Name(s): International- Vyvanse. Why it is prescribed (Indications) : This medication is a central nervous system stimulant, prescribed for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). It stimulates the brain and nerves that contribute to hyperactivity and impulse control. When it is not to be taken (Contraindications): Contraindicated in pregnant and breastfeeding women.
Dosage & When it is to be taken : Dosage should be individualized according to the therapeutic needs and response of the patient. It should be administered at the lowest effective dosage. How it should be taken : This medication is available in the form of capsule to be taken by mouth. It is usually taken once a day in the morning with or without food. Warnings and Precautions : *Caution should also be exercised in patients with history of irregular heartbeat or heart attack, high blood pressure, thickening of the arteries, or other heart problems, depression, bipolar disorder, abnormally excited mood, uncontrollable movements, repetition of sounds or words that is hard to control, suicidal thoughts. Side Effects : Gastrointestinal- Dryness of the mouth, unpleasant taste, diarrhea, constipation and other gastrointestinal disturbances. Central Nervous System- Dizziness, sleepiness, headache and uncontrollable shaking of a part of body. *Check whether heart and blood vessels are healthy before taking this medication. Storage Conditions : Store at 25°C. Store it at airtight container. Protect from light. |
