International- Victoza. This medication is a glucagon-like peptide (GLP)-1 receptor agonist, prescribed for type 2 diabetes. When it is not to be taken (Contraindications):
When it is to be taken : SC- The recommended initial dose is 0.6 mg per day for one week. How it should be taken : It comes as a solution for injection, to be administered by a healthcare provider under the skin. Special Instruction : * Caution should be exercised in patients with history of type 2 diabetes, alcohol abuse, history of kidney or liver problems, thyroid cancer, pancreas inflammation, gallstones, trouble in digesting food, who are taking other medications, any allergy, during pregnancy and breastfeeding. * Follow the diet and exercise program as directed by your physician. * It may lead to dehydration if diarrhea, nausea, or vomiting occurs; consult with your doctor before taking this medication. * Monitor calcitonin levels, thyroid ultrasound, fasting blood glucose, or hemoglobin A1c regularly while taking this medication. Side Effects : Nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, constipation, upper respiratory tract infection, headache, influenza, urinary tract infection, dizziness, sinusitis, back pain, and high blood pressure. * Avoid excess dosage. Storage Conditions : Store it at controlled room temperature (15° to 30°C). |
