This medication is an aminoglycoside antibiotic, prescribed for serious bacterial infections. It fights bacteria in the body.
It should not be used in long-term treatment. Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity.
Adult- IM/IV- The recommended dose is 500mg to 1gm per day in divided doses.
It comes as a solution for injection to be administered by a healthcare provider into the vein or muscle.
• Caution should be exercised in patients with history of dehydration, brain nerve damage, myasthenia gravis, Parkinson disease, kidney failure, any allergy, who are taking other medications, during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
• It may cause dizziness, do not drive a car or operate machinery while taking this medication.
• It may lead to dehydration; drink plenty of fluid.
• Severe Effects :
Ear damage, kidney damage and paralysis.
• General : Diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, pain, redness or swelling at the injection site.
Extreme caution needed for newborns.
Avoid excess dosage.
