Why it is prescribed (Indications) : This medication is a sympathomimetic agent, prescribed for slow/fast heart beat, asthma and chronic bronchitis.

When it is not to be taken (Contraindications): 

Contraindicated in patients with severe heart diseases and hypersensitivity.

Category C : Animal reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect on the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in humans, but potential benefits may warrant use of the drug in pregnant women despite potential risks.


When it is to be taken : IV- The recommended dose range is 0.01mg to 0.06mg.
How it should be taken : It comes as a solution for injection, to be administered by a healthcare provider into the vein. It also comes in tablet form and inhaler to take orally.
Special Instruction : 
* Caution should be exercised in patients with history of diabetes, over active thyroid, heart disease, during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
* Patient may develop with increased risk of heart and electrolyte disturbances; monitor them carefully.
Side Effects : 
Central Nervous System- Nervousness, restlessness, sleeplessness, anxiety, tension, fear and excitement.
Eye- Blurred vision.
Other Precautions : 
* Avoid excess dosage.
Storage Conditions : 
Intravenous: Store at controlled room temperature (20-25°C).
