This medication is a synthetic derivate of the omega-3 fatty acid eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), prescribed as an adjunct to diet to reduce hypertriglyceridemia in adults.
The daily dose is 4 g/day (taken as two capsules twice daily).
It comes as a tablet to take by mouth, as directed by your physician.
• Caution should be exercised in patients with history of diabetes, low thyroid problem, liver problem, any allergy, who are taking other medications, during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
• Monitor blood counts and liver function regularly while taking this medication.
Avoid excess dosage.
