This medication is an antibiotic, used to treat bacterial infections of the eyes. It works by killing the bacteria that causes infection.
Gentamicin Sterile Ophthalmic Solution: Instill one or two drops into the affected eye every 4 hours.
It comes as eye drops and ointment to instill into the affected eyes as directed by your physician.
• It may cause blurred vision, do not drive a car or operate machinery while taking this medication.
• It may cause harm if it is swallowed.
• Avoid long-term use of this medication; otherwise it may cause secondary infection.
• Caution should be exercised in patients with history of any allergy, who are taking other medications, during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Irritated, burning, or stinging eyes.
The infection can be spread to another person if you accidentally contaminate the medication.
