Why it is prescribed (Indications) : 
This medication is a gadolinium-based MRI contrast agent, used to diagnose problems in the brain, spine, chest, stomach, hip area, and other parts of the body.  It helps in clear visualization of blood vessels, organs, and other non-bony tissues.
When it is not to be taken (Contraindications): 
Contraindicated in patients with severe kidney disease, and hypersensitivity.

Category C : Animal reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect on the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in humans, but potential benefits may warrant use of the drug in pregnant women despite potential risks.

Dosage & When it is to be taken : 
CNS- Adults: The recommended dose is 0.2 mL/kg (0.1 mmol/kg) administered as a bolus intravenous injection.
Body- The recommended dose is 0.1 mL/kg (0.05 mmol/kg).
How it should be taken : 
It comes as a solution for injection to be administered by a healthcare provider into the vein.
Warnings and Precautions : 
* Caution should be exercised in patients with history of asthma, infection, kidney or liver impairment, seizures, diabetes, high blood pressure, any allergy, during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
* It may cause dizziness or lightheadedness, do not drive a car or operate machinery while taking this medication.
* Patient may develop with increased risk of nephrogenic systemic fibrosis (NSF), if it is so consult with your healthcare provider.
Side Effects : 
Most Common - Nausea, headache and dizziness.
Heart - Heart failure, abnormal heart rhythm, heart attack, flushing, chest pain and blood clots.
Central Nervous System - Convulsion, incoordination, abnormal coordination, tingling, tremor, aggravated multiple sclerosis, migraine.
Gastrointestinal- Abdominal pain, diarrhea, eructation, dry mouth/vomiting and blood in stool.
Eye and ENT - Abnormal vision, ringing in the ear, taste loss and taste perversion.
Liver - Abnormal liver function.
Musculoskeletal - Joint and muscle pain.
Respiratory - Runny nose and difficulty in breathing.
Skin - Itching, rash, sweating increased and hives.
Genitourinary - Acute reversible kidney failure.
Other Precautions : 
* Avoid excess dosage.
Storage Conditions : 
Store it at controlled room temperature (20°-25°C).
