Why it is prescribed (Indications) : 
This medication is an antipsychotic agent, prescribed for depression, and psychoses.

When it is not to be taken (Contraindications): 


Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity, overactive patients, mania, blood disorder, coma, preexisting central nervous system depression, bone-marrow depression, and breastfeeding.

Category C : Animal reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect on the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in humans, but potential benefits may warrant use of the drug in pregnant women despite potential risks.


When it is to be taken : 
Adult- PO- The recommended dose range is 1mg to 20mg/day.
How it should be taken : 
It comes as a tablet to take by mouth, with or without food.
Special Instruction : 
* Caution should be exercised in patients with history of epileptic disorder, heart, liver, lung, or kidney disease, elderly, increased eye pressure, urinary retention, breast cancer, tumor, prostate enlargement, breast cancer, parkinsonism, myasthenia gravis, during pregnancy.
* Avoid exposure to direct sunlight.
Side Effects : 
Rigidity, tremors, restlessness, tardive dyskinesia, sleeplessness, dryness of mouth, weight gain, sexual dysfunction, spontaneous milk secretion, and menstrual disturbances.
Other Precautions : 
* Avoid excess dosage.
Storage Conditions : 
Store the medication at room temperature.
