India- Floricot Tab. International- Florinef. This medication is a corticosteroid, prescribed for Addison's disease and syndromes where excessive amounts of sodium are lost in the urine. It decreases the amount of sodium that is lost (excreted) in the urine. When it is not to be taken (Contraindications):
When it is to be taken : Primary adrenocortical insufficiency- 50-300 mcg/day. Salt-losing adrenogenital hyperplasia Up to 200 mcg/day. How it should be taken : This medication available in the form of tablet to take by mouth as directed by your physician. Special Instruction : * If you have a fungal infection (other than on your skin), avoid this medication. *Caution should be exercised in patients with history of liver, kidney, intestinal, or heart disease, diabetes, underactive thyroid gland, high blood pressure, mental illness, myasthenia gravis, osteoporosis, herpes eye infection, seizures, tuberculosis (TB), ulcers, during pregnancy and breastfeeding. *It may affect blood sugar level, monitor blood sugar level regularly. Side Effects : Heart- Swelling, high blood pressure, heart failure and heart enlargement. Musculoskeletal- Muscle weakness. Gastrointestinal- Increase in blood glucose, growth suppression and peptic ulcer. Skin- Bruising, increased sweating, hives and rash. Central Nervous System- Dizziness, headache and convulsions. Eye and ENT- Cataract, raised intraocular pressure and reduced visual acuity. Miscellaneous- Potassium deficiency in the blood. *Avoid alcohol consumption. Storage Conditions : Store at 2-8°C. Store it in an airtight container. |
