Why it is prescribed (Indications) : This medication is a 5-alpha-reductase inhibitor, prescribed for an enlarged prostate treatment. It blocks the production of a natural substance that enlarges the prostate and reduces the need for surgery. When it is not to be taken (Contraindications): Contraindicated in patients with severe liver impairment; pregnant women, children, adolescent.
Dosage & When it is to be taken : Adult: PO- 500 mcg daily (treatment for 6 month may be required before benefit is obtained). How it should be taken : It comes as a capsule to take by mouth, with or without food. Warnings and Precautions : * Tell your doctor if you have or have ever had liver disease or prostate cancer. * This drug only for men. *Touching the contents of the capsules by pregnant female may harm to the fetus. Avoid touching the medication directly, if it does so wash properly. Side Effects : Genitourinary- Impotence, decreased libido, ejaculation disorders, breast tenderness, and enlargement. ♦Heart-Heart Failure. *Monitor patients with large residual urine volume. Storage Conditions : Oral: Store at 25°C.Store it in airtight container. |
