Why it is prescribed (Indications) : 
This medication is an antihistamine, prescribed for severe allergic conditions.

When it is not to be taken (Contraindications): 


Contraindicated in patients with paralytic ileus, urinary retention, infants, newborns, and known hypersensitivity.

Category B : Animal reproduction studies have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women OR Animal studies have shown an adverse effect, but adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus in any trimester.


When it is to be taken : 
Adult: PO- 1-2 mg 3 times/day. Topical As 0.1% gel/lotion: Use as directed.
How it should be taken : 
It comes as a tablet to take by mouth, with food. It also comes as a gel to apply topically.
Special Instruction : 
* Caution should be exercised in patients with history of elderly, increased eye pressure, prostate enlargement, epilepsy, stomach obstruction, during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Side Effects : 
Central Nervous System - CNS depression, excitation, dryness of mouth and headache.
Heart - Fast heart rate andabnormal heart rhythm.
Local - Allergic reactions, burning and dryness.
Gastrointestinal - Nausea, dry mouth, constipation, and stomach upset.
Miscellaneous - Increased sputum, urinary retention, blurred vision and blood dyscrasias.
Other Precautions : 
* Avoid excess dosage.
Storage Conditions : 
Store it at room temperature.
