Why is Dichlorphenamide Prescribed? (Indications)

This medication is a sulfonamide and carbonic anhydrase inhibitor, prescribed for glaucoma. It reduces the amount of fluid produced in eyes.

When should Dichlorphenamide not be taken? (Contraindications)

Contraindicated in patients with liver or kidney failure, adrenocortical insufficiency, acidity, lung obstruction, low level of minerals in blood and hypersensitivity.

What is the dosage of Dichlorphenamide?

Adult- Oral- The recommended dose is 100 to 200 mg (2 to 4 tablets), followed by 100 mg (2 tablets) every 12 hours. The recommended maintenance dosage for adults is 25 to 50 mg once to three times daily.
