India- Kelfer cap. International- Ferriprox. This medication is a chelating agent, prescribed for thalassaemia. When it is not to be taken (Contraindications):
When it is to be taken : Adult: Oral- 25 mg/kg 3 times/day, up to 100 mg/kg/day. How it should be taken : It comes as a capsule to take by mouth, with or without food. Special Instruction : * Caution should be exercised in patients with history of liver and kidney impairment, decrease in blood counts, during pregnancy and lactation. * Monitor blood counts regularly. Side Effects : *Abdominal pain, diarrhea and joint pain. * Stop the medication if neutrophil count decreases. Storage Conditions : Oral: Store it at room temperature (30°C). |
