Daclatasvir belongs to a group of antiviral medications called Hepatitis C virus (NS5A) inhibitors prescribed along with sofosbuvir for the treatment of chronic HCV genotype 3 infection.The drug mainly works by stopping the hepatitis C virus from multiplying and spreading inside the body.
When should Daclatasvir not be taken? (Contraindications)
Daclatasvir is contraindicated in patients who take medications that can result in faster metabolism of the drug like phenytoin, carbamazepine and rifampicin. It should also be avoided by those who are allergic to the drug, along with other medications and nutrition supplements that could interfere with its effect, and during pregnancy and breast feeding.What is the dosage of Daclatasvir?
The dose of the drug is 60mg to be taken once daily with food or on an empty stomach along with sofosbuvir for 12 weeks.How should Daclatasvir be taken?

Antiarrhythmic Drugs
The combination of daclatasvir, sofosuvir and amiodarone should be avoided since it can cause serious slowing of the heart. This can result in symptoms of dizziness, confusion, problems with memory, chest pain and breathing difficulties. Concomitant administration of daclatasvir with antiarrhythmic drug like digoxin may increase digoxin concentration.
Lipid Lowering Agents
The blood concentration of HMG CoA reductase inhibitors like atorvastatin, rosuvastatin and pravastatin may increase when taken along with daclatasvir.
