This medication is a bile acid sequestrant, prescribed for familial hypercholesterolemia and type 2 diabetes with other medications.

When should Colesevelam Hcl not be taken? (Contraindications)

Contraindicated in patients with bowel obstruction, inflammation of the pancreas, high triglyceride levels and hypersensitivity.

What is the dosage of Colesevelam Hcl?

For hypercholesterolemia- The recommended dose is one 3.75-gram packet once daily or one 1.875-gram packet twice daily.
For Type 2 Diabetes- The recommended dose is 6 tablets once daily or 3 tablets twice daily.
