Why it is prescribed (Indications) : 
This medication is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic, prescribed for certain bacterial infections.

When it is not to be taken (Contraindications): 


Contraindicated in patients with carnitine deficiency, and hypersensitivity.

Category B : Animal reproduction studies have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women OR Animal studies have shown an adverse effect, but adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus in any trimester.


When it is to be taken : 
PO- The recommended dose is 200mg two times per day.
How it should be taken : 
It comes as a tablet to take by mouth, with food.
Special Instruction : 
* Caution should be exercised in patients with history of bowel problems, blood clotting problems, kidney or liver problems, decreased muscle mass, poor nutrition, any allergy, elderly, children, during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
* Avoid long-term use of this medication; otherwise it may cause secondary infection.
* Patient may develop with stomach pain or cramps, severe diarrhea, or bloody stools; if it is so consult with your healthcare provider.
* It may cause dizziness or drowsiness, do not drive a car or operate machinery while taking this medication.
* Monitor sugar level regularly.
Side Effects : 
Gastrointestinal - Constipation, flatulence, loss of appetite, gastrointestinal disorder, taste perversion, mouth infection and increased appetite.
Skin - Rash, sweating, and hives.
Central Nervous System - Weakness, nervousness, drowsiness, dizziness and sleeplessness.
Miscellaneous - Fever, swelling in the face, pain, mouth ulcer, white discharge and vaginal infection.
Other Precautions : 
* Avoid excess dosage
Storage Conditions : 
Store it at room temperature away from heat and moisture
