This medication is a second-generation broad-spectrum cephalosporin antibiotic, prescribed for respiratory infections, including pneumonia, urinary tract infections, peritonitis, skin and skin structure infections, bone and joint infections. When it is not to be taken (Contraindications):
When it is to be taken : IM/IV- Dosage Adults: The usual dosage range is 500 mg to 2 g every 4 to 8 hours. Pediatric Patients (3 months of age and older) 50 to 100 mg/kg/day in equally divided doses How it should be taken : It comes as a solution for injection, to be administered by a healthcare provider into the vein or muscle. Special Instruction : * Caution should be exercised in patients with history of kidney or liver impairment, elderly, children, during pregnancy and breastfeeding. * Monitor kidney or liver function regularly while taking this medication. Side Effects : Gastrointestinal - Nausea and vomiting. Hypersensitivity - Rash, hives, eosinophilia, and drug fever. Severe - Kidney damage. * Avoid excess dosage. Storage Conditions : Store it at room temperature (25°C). |
