Why it is prescribed (Indications) : 
This medication is a chemotherapy agent, prescribed for prostate cancer in patients who have received prior chemotherapy containing docetaxel. It is used either alone or with other medications (prednisone). 
When it is not to be taken (Contraindications): 
Contraindicated in pregnant women and patients with hypersensitivity.

Category X : Studies in animals or humans have demonstrated fetal abnormalities and/or there is positive evidence of human fetal risk based on adverse reaction data from investigational or marketing experience, and the risks involved in use of the drug in pregnant women clearly outweigh potential benefits.

Dosage & When it is to be taken : 
Adult- PO- The recommended dose is 1000mg once daily with prednisone 5mg.
How it should be taken : 
It comes as a tablet to take by mouth, on an empty stomach.
Warnings and Precautions : 
* Caution should be exercised in patients with history of heart disease, high blood pressure, decrease in blood potassium level, adrenal gland insufficiency, liver or kidney disease, elderly, and in children.
* Monitor liver function, adrenocortical insufficiency, regularly while taking this medication.
Side Effects : 
Most Common- Joint swelling, fracture, liver impairment, decrease in blood potassium level, fluid retention, muscle discomfort, hot flush, diarrhea, urinary tract infection, cough, high blood pressure, abnormal heart rhythm, urinary frequency, night time urination, indigestion and upper respiratory tract infection.
Other Precautions : 
* Avoid excess dosage.
Storage Conditions : 
Store it at room temperature (20° to 25°C), and in an airtight container.
