Why it is prescribed (Indications) : 
This medication is an appetite suppressant, prescribed for exogenous obesity.

When it is not to be taken (Contraindications): 


Contraindicated in patients with heart disease, high blood pressure, overactive thyroid, increased eye pressure, blocked blood vessels, who are taking MAOIs or within 14 days of MAOIs administration and hypersensitivity.

Category C : Animal reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect on the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in humans, but potential benefits may warrant use of the drug in pregnant women despite potential risks.


When it is to be taken : 
The recommended dose is 30 mg once daily about 2 hours after breakfast.
How it should be taken : 
It comes as a tablet and capsule to take by mouth, 30 minutes before food.
Special Instruction : 
* Caution should be exercised in patients with heart disease, hypertension, diabetes, overactive thyroid, increased eye pressure, who are taking other medications, in children and during breastfeeding.
* It may cause dizziness, do not drive a car or operate machinery while taking this medication.
* Avoid alcohol consumption.
* It should not be used in children less than 12 years of age.
Side Effects : 
Heart - Palpitations, fast heart rate and elevation of blood pressure.
Central Nervous System - Restlessness, dizziness, sleeplessness, emotional state, tremor and headache.
Gastrointestinal - Dryness of the mouth, unpleasant taste, diarrhea, constipation and other gastrointestinal disturbances.
Allergic Reactions - Hives.
Endocrine - Impotence and changes in sexual drive.
Other Precautions : 
* Avoid excess dosage.
Storage Conditions : 
Store it at room temperature.
