Most  of  the cases have been registered from the  Niwasi  Bihari Colony,  Sherpur Colony and Gaspura area of the district,  where, according  to the authorities, the disease has broken out  mainly due to waterlogging. 

Many people have died due to the disease.

The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) said the idea that flat drinks can help with gastroenteritis is untrue, while fruit juices and fizzy drinks do not help either.

Most of the deaths were reported from southern Punjab, as temperatures shot up to 47 degrees Celsius in Multan and 48 degrees in Dera Ghazi Khan and Bahawalpur.
