The European Environment Agency (EEA) has blamed chemicals in household products for the rise in incidence of cancer, reduced fertility and obesity.

The EEA has warned that other items such as cosmetics and medicines, which contain endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs), could be harmful to humans.

In a study published on Thursday, officials said that there was strong evidence of harm and cautioned against their use but stopped just short of recommending a complete ban.

Previous research has demonstrated that insect glands are responsible for producing a host of secretions that allow bees to sting.

New research from Carnegie scientists focuses on secretions from glands in the reproductive tract that help sperm survive and guide the sperm on the trip to fertilize an egg. The gene that controls the development of these glands in fruit flies provides important information about gland development in all insects, as well as potential clues to similar human reproductive glands....

The director of the clinic, Dr Paul Turek revealed that he and his team will be attempting to develop an artificial testicle that will produce real sperms. Dr Turek said that while using stem cells to treat infertility among animals has been done, it is yet to be tested in humans. According to the news report ...

A novel technique could boost IVF success rates and reduces the number of multiple births, shows study.

The technique has been successfully used in mice to track the discrete movements inside an egg that occur during stimulation at fertilization, and Cardiff University scientists say it could be used in humans too.

The Cardiff scientists worked with a team in Oxford University to analyse the internal contents of the human egg or cytoplasm to observe distinct rhythmic patterns.

Leigh Simmons, Marianne Peters and Gillian Rhodes from the University of Western Australia say that while men with deep voices may have more testosterone, too much of it can reduce the amount of sperm it ejaculates.

The result came as a surprise because it's widely accepted that females use traits such as a deep voice, hairiness and muscle ...

New South Wales enacted such a regulation last year. But not many sperm donors like to be identified, hence native donation dries up, forcing women to turn to donations from abroad, particularly US. Even the US donors must agree to be identified, but apparently they don't mind since the children are sired far away.
