Indication To isolate and identify aerobic and anaerobic organisms present in the endometrium
Physiology Clinical findings are associated with anaerobic infections in the mucosal surface, foul smelling discharge, gas in tissues, abscess formation. The most common isolates are anaerobic gram positive cocci and Bacteroides sp.
Normal Range No growth
Sample Scrapings, aspirates, or swabs taken from endometrium
Test Method Aerobic and anaerobic culture
Related Tests Abscess, Chlamydia trachomatis
