Indication The test is used to detect bacteria which have developed a cell wall defective structure due to drug therapy.
Physiology Cell wall defective organisms (L-forms) have been associated with Haemophilus influenzae, Staphylococcus aureus, Enterobacteriaceae, and other microorganisms.
Normal Range No growth
Sample Body fluid (blood, spinal fluid, pleural fluid or urine) or tissue.
Test Method Culture in hypertonic medium.
