Test : Prothrombin time tests


Indications : Blood clotting disorders

Physiology : It measures the time taken for the blood to clot.It involves a lot of clotting factors from factor I to factor XIII.

Normal Range : 11-15seconds

Interpretation : A prolonged prothrombin time indicates deficiency of vitamin k due to liver disease,deficiency of factors V,X,XII,fibronogen and thrombin
