  1. Arteries supplying blood to the heart can sometimes get blocked due to a 'plaque' and this can lead to angina or a heart attack.

  2. Angioplasty is a minimally invasive procedure that expands the blocked segment of the coronary artery using a ballon.

  3. Once it is expanded a metal coil like stent is placed to keep the artery open.

  4. Angioplasty helps in re-establishing a normal blood flow and avoids open surgical operation called coronary artery bypass surgery.
