Future studies by the Center for Medical Innovations (CMI) Germany, in partnership with Zandu Pharmaceutical Works Ltd, is attempting clinical trials in the US to evaluate the effect of Mucuna in preventing, delaying or stopping the progression of Parkinson's disease.
While no clinical study conducted so far claims that Mucuna is a complete substitute for modern medication in treating Parkinson's disease, the fact that it makes an unquestionable difference in the lives of the victims, assures its unique standing in the management of Parkinson's disease.
Previous and current studies point to evidence of Mucuna being able to significantly alleviate symptoms of the disease, help patients overcome the side effects of regular Parkinson's drugs and ease the suffering of the suffering individuals.

Unofficially, testimonies abound of patients claiming quicker onset of drug effects, symptom alleviation, negligible side effects, and most importantly, being able to 'wean off' Sinemet - the regular medication, while on Mucuna, solely, or in addition to regular medication. So far, there are no reported side effects from the use of Mucuna.
