Preparation
- Squeeze the tamarind in water
- Add chopped tomatoes and rock salt to it
- Allow it to boil on a low flame till the tomatoes becomes soft
- Boil and mash the thoor dal separately
- Fry pepper, cumin in little ghee
- Then fry pudina and onion in ghee separately
- Coarsely grind it
- Add this to the boiling soup
- Add the smashed thoor dal also to it
- Let it boil for few minutes
- Remove from fire.
- Add chopped curry leaves and coriander leaves.
- Season it with ghee, mustard seeds and asafoetida
