The term ‘Pakvanna’ denotes that which is cooked using oil or ghee.

The food that is cooked with ghee is-
  • Easy on the heart
  • Light to digest
  • Tasty
  • Balances vata and pitta
  • Provides strength
  • Improves complexion
  • Good for eyes
The food that is cooked with oil is-
  • Heavy to digest
  • Heat producing
  • Balances vata
  • They are not good for eyes
  1. Wheat Pakvannam
  2. Barley Pakvannam
  3. Maize Pakvannam (Benzi rava uppuma)
  4. Rice Pakvannam
  5. Kicchari (pongal)
  6. Finger Millet Pakvannam
