Sanskrit name: Kooshmaanda
Hindi name: Petaa
Tamil name: Poosanikkai

Indications: Beneficial during the following conditions:

Obesity
Calculi
Excessive thirsty condition
Loss of appetite
Internal fever
Difficult urination
Toxicity
Fever due to Pitta
Chronic Fever
Skin diseases
Diabetes
Excessive bleeding
Leucorrhoea

Properties:

Tender pumpkin relieves all the three doshas
Best among creeper fruits
Balances Pitta dosha
Clears the urinary tract
Nourishing
Aphrodisiac
Laxative
Diuretic

Ingredients:

Pumpkin Pulp – 300gm
Sugar Candy – 20 gm
Water – Desired Quantity

Preparation:

Put the pumpkin in a juicer & extract the juice.
Add desired quanity of sugar.
Honey can be used instead of sugar, especially in case of obesity.

Glossary:

Vata – It refers to one of the three doshas. This is made of air and ether. This functional unit is characterized by movement, coldness, lightness and dryness in the body. When imbalanced it produces pain in various parts of the body.

Pitta – It refers to one of the three doshas. This is made of fire and water. This functional unit is characterized by heat, temperature and digestion in the body. When imbalanced it produces heat and burning sensation in the body.

Kapha – It refers to one of the three doshas. This is made of earth and water in our body. It is characterized by fluidity, strength and nourishment. When imbalanced it produces heaviness and phlegm in the body.

Doshas – Literally that which can go out of balance.

The Sanskrit name KOOSHMAANDA and Hndi name PETA
are also incorrect as they also refer to ASHGOURD
only.

The tamil name is PARANGIKKAI for pumpkin and not poosanikkai,(ASH GOURD) Please have it corrected
