The adult worms live in the
lymph - a body fluid. When the worms block the flow of lymph,
a disease called Elephantiasis results. This disease is
characterised by severe swelling of the limbs, usually the
legs. Sometimes it even can affect the breast or the
scrotum. This gross swelling in the legs and other parts of the body and the thickening of the skin due to blockage of the vessels of the lymphatic system is called Elephantiasis. |

Posted on: 05/09/2012 i am suffering from filaria for the past 12 years.i have swelling in the left leg.i have tried all types of medicines but have no relief.please suggest me any medicine or permanent cure for it.

Posted on: 09/14/2011 i'm suffering from filaria for last 4 years,presently taking hetrazan 100 which helps but swelling in the right testicle and red spots on the penal head keep coming back some times with 4-5 months gap some times every month,but now its not going only subsiding for aday or two and again coming back.life is stressful plz.help |

Posted on: 05/16/2011 my father now at 55years age is found to be infected with filaria. we found that his right leg is swelling if he stands for a long time for suppose to say 1hour.he went for the confirmation center of filaria at mandapeta,east godavari dist,andhra pradesh. the swelling is below knee and nearer to the foot only.kindly suggest the treatment. now he is doing water therapy by putting his leg in the bucket of water for 1/2hour at evenings.
