What are the causes of Hyperacusis ?

Hyperacusis can come on slowly or suddenly. Head injuries, even mild in nature can cause hyperacusis. There is also some evidence that points to a brain chemistry dysfunction with poor uptake of certain chemicals resulting in this condition. Other causes include job related noise exposure, drugs or brain, ear or other surgery.
