Chikungunya is a relatively a rare viral fever that is caused by the bite of a common mosquito. Outbreaks have taken place in many tropical countries. Recently it has resurfaced in many parts of South India. It causes high fever with sometimes joint pain and rashes on the body. It is important to exclude other conditions like Dengue before diagnosing it.

We are seeing lot of cases resembling chikun gunea,confirming which is not possible for economic reason.Here joint pain is not controlled at all.patients seem to be consuming lot of nsaids but to no avail.a couple of deaths have been reported,may be due to drug abuse since quacks are using steroids and other drugs(some modern medical practitioners as well)we neeed some more details as to the complications (Posted by Dr.K.G.Bhat,Mangalore,Karnataka, India Date : 6/28/2008 ) |

My mother is sufering from fever from past 2 month. Joint pains and fever came together, also after the CT SCAN is done enlargement of LymphNodes is seen near trachea, with largest LymphNode of 3cms. I want to know wether is it Chikungunya? As some Doctors have also recomded Biapsoy of Lymphnodes. Also when will the fever go and she will be perfectly all right? PLEASE HELP!!! chikungunya fever is not fatal ds it is easily manage with homoeopathic medicine and diet control.take plenty of water and veg diet.avoid painkillers because it will reduce immunity and leads to reccurent attack of fever. (Posted by dr ranjith kumar.n, India Date : 8/13/2007 ) |
